Strange feeling

So I'm liking this not being in school. I don't have to fly through all the books I want to read before the fall semester begins. I get to actually take the time to read them, Which is great. I've never been able to feel this way. I've always had school to go back to. But not this time.

I went to the used bookstore in the McDonough Square and It's really kinda cute. They have a classics section in which I found several books that I have been missing, I also found several books that I currently have in the same edition. I bought 8 books for $15. Score. Also, the Koffee Klutch is very nice, I like it and I think I'll be going there more often to sit and read.

The Surprise (That's it's name for now), is still in the works. It's taking longer and longer now since it is growing but I'm still knitting along.

Right now I'm reading Confessions of a Recovering Slut by Hollis Gillespie and it's still keeping me entertained. I must leave now to continue my reading and my knitting, I don't have to be at work until 5. yay!

Surprise!

I have a surprise for everyone. It's a new project. A project that is really cool. But, the catch is. It's going to remain a surprise until it's finished.

It's so lovely right now. I can't wait till it is finished and I get to see the final result.

NEW STUFF

I got my Knit Picks order and I must say. I am once again very impressed with the company. The order was shipped on Tuesday. I got it today. I didn't place the order till Sunday evening. Talk about fast service. I got several things that I wanted and some things that were just because.

Like this Andean Silk. This Andean Silk is so I can do a guage swatch to see if I can use this yarn to make a sweater. It's a silk/merino blend. SO VERY SOFT. I got it in Slate so I can count the stitches easily. I already love it!

I have plans to make a brand new lace shawl and I am going to use these two hanks of Alpaca Cloud in Mist. It's very pretty and very soft. Also very fine yarn. I am really looking forward to casting on. I am going to get started tonight as soon as I get the first hank wound into a ball. I picked the color so I can wear it this summer.

Also new nickel plated size 7 double pointed needles. YAY! I lurve their needles.

Oh yeah. I needed a margarita to help me forget the pain of ball winding. By the time I'm writing this. It's all gone. And it was made like my pal Whitney makes Margaritas. Heavy with Tequila. Yum.

SOCK YARN. I bought sock yarn. I love sock yarn. This sock yarn is nice and cheap and soft. at $1.99 it's a deal.

The colors close up.

I am going to make felted flower pots, so I bought two skeins of yarn to make them out of. I want to get started on these as well. One of them is going to be a gift for someone special. That's why I got the size 7 DPNs for.

And now the worst part of getting the order. Turning the hanks into balls of yarn. Oh. And finishing the dumb guage swatches that I already have on my needles. I better get to work. I also want to get some reading in. I bought Confessions of a Recovering Slut by Hollis Gillespie. If you haven't read this. PLEASE DO! She is a great writer and writes articles for Creative Loafing. I've read it before when I borrowed it from a friend and now I've bought it for myself to re-read. I also bought Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. This is also a must read. It's an autobiography in graphic novel form. Very very good. Both of them.

Something interesting happened today. While I was at work and on my lunch break, I went to look at a knitting stitch design book. I took it to the break room with me to read and relax and as I'm flipping pages and getting inspired for a new projects. As I'm looking through it, I come across a "SAVE THE SHEEP" leaflet from Peta. Apparently someone has been putting anti-wool info in our knitting book. After showing it to my manager (who was a little irritated because it meant that there could be others in other books). I then told Justin about what I found who then demanded that he get to see it. We both laughed because we both wear wool (and I knit with it constantly and he wear the things I make). But we're ok because the leaflet was about Australian wool and all the wool that he and I wear/use is from South America. Funny story simply because now I know that it's not enough that I don't wear fur or leather, but now I'm a terrible human being because I knit with wool. Shame on me.

Well life has been quite busy. Knitting wise all I've really been doing is gauge swatch knitting (damn me and my desire to substitute yarns). I won't show you pictures of the gauge swatches because that's just boring. I hate gauge, and I hate that i cannot go without doing it.

outside knitting for gauge I've been working on a candle flame scarf. If you squint you can kinda see why it's a candle flame pattern. I didn't like it when i first started working on it but it's kinda grown on me. I've also placed an order with Knit Picks and I hope it will be arriving soon. like..... REALLY soon. I need the items I've ordered sooner than I thought I would.

In other news. I'VE GRADUATED!!!!!! Yep. On the 12th of May I walked with the class of 2007 Clayton State University. YAY! Here I am with several of my class mates. All of us who graduated with History degrees with some of our professors. Some of them made our life hell. Others made it easier. I won't say who though.

We were all so happy to be done. It was actually a short ceremony.

I lost all rational thinking after walking across that stage. Ben and I (he's a graduate too!)

And the whole family. YAY! we went out to Fogo de Chao after graduation and it was AMAZING! Awesome great food with outstanding service (lots of $$ though) I got awesome grad gifts and was the princess for the day (which doesn't mean much because I'm a princess everyday!).
I'm going to be able to update more often now that school is no longer a distraction. It's kinda odd not being in any kind of formal schooling now. I guess I need to officially start of the master knitters program. Or wait till I've made a lot of the things I want to make. Like the shawl and the sweater and the socks. YAY!!!

so close

Well, I'm done with classes. Monday the 7th is my last day. FOREVER! Strangely I'm a person who loves to put stuff off to the last minute. However I've been getting stuff done. EARLY! I think it's because I'm so close. I only have to make a presentation, finish my take home exam (which is due by friday and halfway done) and take two finals. I can't believe I'm so close to being done. YAY!!!!! well..... I need to get back to my bumming around for the evening.
